Hunger Games Movie Review

What makes me attracted to movies such as the Hungar Games? It must be the thrilling action packed and breath-taking adventure story. I feel that I am part of the game of survival of the fittest. I feel like I can be part of an adventure where I am able to fight back against those who want to hurt me. However, I am not part of movie. I have also dreamed of a movie technology that would make the audience join the main characters. The Hunger Games is the new "Harry Potter", but I doubt it would be as financially successful. Hunger Games has captured my attention through its creative use of the camera and the creative acting of its actors.

When Rue was shot and Katniss attempted to protect Rue, the camera did something odd. The way the cinematographer used the camera to convey the passing of a loved one was unique because it attempted to let us feel that emotion before we see it. This is an unsual concept because we have rarely thought about how the person passing away would feel. The blurring of the trees and Rue's entire vision fading were commonly used, but the feelings that this scene evoked was different. I felt a sudden chill down my spine.

Furthermore, the acting of Jennifer Lawerence's role as Katniss was very convincing and appropriate for this film. She may not be the best actress, but she does introduces an element of uncertainty. As we watch her perform, we feel like we have to hold our breath because we don't know what will happen next. This feeling is evoked with the help of the somber mood created by the music.

In addition, Music is one of the most important elements in a motion picture; however, it is often neglected because the audience pays too much attention to the plotline. Without music, the film would not evoke the same feelings. These feelings of fear come across my mind because the music tries to tap into our unconcious portion of the brain.

Music, cinematography, and realistic acting skills are hard to come by these days in Hollywood, but the Hunger Games pulled it off. It told us that we will be surprised when we watch the film. They told us that this film will make us laugh, cry, or cringe. I felt all of these emotions. I have good feeling about this film. Who knows? It might be the next "Harry Potter".Anyways , we need a film like the Hunger Games because we need to take our minds off work, school, and SATs.

Walt Disney Pictures Alice in Wonderland (2010)

I stepped into AMC Theatre 4 on a rainy day. The day was perfect for watching a movie because it is very dark and wet and there's nothing to do. Watching this movie in the morning got my mind working because it was funny, creative, and entertaining. There were great actors, great special effects, and awesome visual effects.

Alice and Wonderland is from a classical novel that every American should read. It is wonderful book and now a wonderful movie. This movie could be used as a teaching tool to help students understand the novel, the time period, and the general setting. The movie also showed Alice's emotions and feelings really well. It is understandable to be scared of a nightmare and a place like Wonderland. Wonderland is weird, strange, surreal, and sometimes hard to understand. It is created by a Englishman because the movie is about dethroning a monarch and saving a land. England was a monarchy , so it knows a lot more to getting rid of bad monarchs or dictators. The Red queen resembles a dictator that is power hungry. She wants the kingdom and got it by force. The classical tale and the movie has landed a place in my memory. Her relationship with her sister is a classic sibling rivalry because the youngest always get everything. The oldest sibling is always the one that is left unsatisfied and jealous. Even the battle is about the rivalry between two siblings because the younger one , the white queen, got the kingdom. So the older sibling, the queen of hearts, believe that the older one is more responsible and thus she should get the land. However, the queen of hearts has no friends or council, because she created allies using fear and power. The White Queen used that to her advantage and got Alice to slay the queen of hearts' most powerful beast. Without that beast, every body is free because she no longer has the power.

This movie also gave us a history lesson on a family of monarchs. When the older brother ascends the throne, sometimes the younger brother would use force to get rid of his blood brother. This fact is true because humans have a nature to want power and they always want more. The story also tells us that with great power comes great responsibility. The Queen of hearts had all that power , but she took no responsibility. She created hatred among her people because the people believes that she is enjoying too much time in her castle. She eventually became oblivious to what was going on in wonderland. She believes that everything is perfect and protesters should be decapitated. It shows her irresponsibility in following what her people want. This happened a lot in medieval England, ancient china, medieval France, and the Ottoman empire. This means that this story, movie, and book showed us the time period that it was written in and the historic activities going on. It also hints that the story takes place before the Opium war because it was mentioned that they wanted to find a shorter route to China. All movies have stories, some of these stories could hint at the past, the present, or the future. Avatar hinted that we might discover a new planet and ruin it all together. The Hurt Locker hinted on the past Iraq war and what happened. This story hinted on a medieval fugue with two monarchs facing each other.

Alice in Wonderland also tells us about a childish dream. It shows us that we all want to travel to a place where we can enjoy the moment without pollution, crowds, or pressure and stress. It tells us that we all want a place to think, relax, and "flush out" our thoughts to someone trustworthy. The time spent in Wonderland helped Alice understand her dilemma in the wedding ceremony. When she climbed out, Alice knew her future as clear as day. She also became happier because she understood more about herself and others around her. For example, she made the connection of the two fat boys with two girls. Those two girls were her friends and they knew what would happen that day and they would also "fight". The connection is similar to the connection that Dorothy made at the end of The Wizard of Oz. Dorothy said, " I had a dream and you were in it". It just explains that the author of the Wizard of Oz had read Louis Carroll's books.

This movie's connection with Louis Carroll's novel, Through the Looking Glass and Alice in Wonderland is very precise and very informational. The three dimensional effects were awesome, but that was not the most important part in the movie.

However I have mixed feelings about this movie. Some parts were dull, some parts were exciting, and some parts were sad. This made me think twice about the rating of this movie because it was not consistent. I feel that this movie has too much dialogue and some of the dialogue could be cut out. I also found listening to their British accents annoying. Also , the movie started out to be very confusing. They did not introduce everything clearly. Although this movie has faults, I still love Alice in Wonderland. Watch it in 3D and you will not be disappointed. It has great visual and special effects, but incomparable to Avatar. Watch the movie in theatre because they have comfy seats and screens. Also, watch the movie in the morning because movies are cheaper in the morning than the afternoon.

17 Again

For most people, they wish that they can turn their whole life around, if they became 17 again. Michael O'Donnell lived an mediocre life with a separated wife and two unloving children. He is forced to live at his best friend's house and strange things occurred. This interesting movie left many people feeling sad because they felt the nostalgia with the vivid details of turning seventeen again. This is an interesting movie that captured my attention with its humor because our lives would be very different if the parents were that same age as their kids.

Michael O'Donnell noticed that as a father he knew absolutely nothing about his kids, but he learned more about them as he turned seventeen. An old man or an angel turned back the clocks and Mike went back to his seventeen year old self that had abs and good looks and cool basketball style. The transformation was unusual, awkward, and scary at first, but the funny part was when his best friend did not recognize him. Then his best friend acted as his father to enroll him into high school again. Then the romance part started to form. His best friend tried to get a date with the principal, he tried to get along with his wife, his daughter tried to get a boy to marry her, and his son tried to date the girl that he has been crushing on. The whole story revolves around romance and family connections. He ended up being his son's best friend that helped him with basketball and dates. Then the funniest part is when he danced with his wife, but he's still seventeen. Then the whole story goes DE jax vu.

The director did a great job resolving all the conflicts in Mike's life by turning him seventeen again. He got his wife back and he knows more about his children and his best friend got a second date. The whole movie is worth watching, but rent it. Don't buy it.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

This weekend was a historic weekend with a record snow accumulation in the mid Atlantic states. This movie has a record food accumulation of Italian foods,American fast foods, and a Las Vegas styled buffet. Cloudy with a chance of meatballs was an entertaining movie for a rented movie. In this animated movie, the actions and inventions seems very unrealistic because food falling from the sky and rat birds. You would have to merge the DNA of rats and birds and that would cost billions of dollars. However this is only a kids animated movie and so the movie is for a one time watch. This movie should be rented at a Red box for a buck because there is nothing too special. Even though there was nothing special, I was intrigued by the creativity of the creators because we need a creative spark.

In the midst of the Great Recession, People are more worried about the rising cost of food and basic needs, so many people don't even think about being creative because they want to keep their good paying jobs. watching a creative movie alleviates the stress and pressure of work, school, and thinking. I really liked how a hamburger just landed perfectly in the people's hands. The funniest person was the mayor because he got so fat and still wants to eat more. He is a good representation of the obesity level in America. People are eating too much junk food and this movie teaches children a lesson about not eating too much McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. When I saw food falling down and piling down in a dam, I knew that the movie was also about telling America that they are wasting too much food. Americans throw away half eaten foods everyday. The scientist was a genius ,however he needs to know that success is 95% failure and 5% success. He was lucky that he met a girl that can match him wit for wit. As the adventure continues, the hero is a team of citizens.

This movie also tells about the state of nature of humans. Humans are naturally greedy and evil. This movie shows how desperate the people are after the tourists left. These people were poor and some were in complete destitute. The people became greedy that all they want is for him to let food come down. The mayor represents the selfish, mean, horrible leader, and very parsimonious aristocrats. He wanted the scientist to drop food because he wants his people to have everything , but in the midst of the crisis he took no blame at all. Even though he was the one that got the machine into overdrive and overloaded the machine. The scientist could have fixed the all problem with a switch, but the mayor had to be selfish.

The meatball part was that the machine is wrapped in a cocoon that was the size and shape of a gigantic meat ball. The adventure of going into the meatball was dangerous because there was hot, and greasy oils that were boiling. There were headless chickens walking. Even though the movie was unrealistic, I believe you should watch the movie any way because it is creative and fun for the whole family. It also teaches the lesson of never waste food.

Julie and Julia

Renting a movie at Red Box is cheap, easy and very convenient. This weekend, I rented the movie, Julie and Julia. The story goes back and forth from past to present and runs parallel from each other's story. Julie Powell's story is in relation to Julia Child's life. She mentioned, "I was a government secretary and Julia was a government secretary. She's loves to cook and I live to cook". She makes the connection that she is similar. This point in the movie is the turning point and the definition on the movie. Julia Child's story begins at the beginning because it acts a introduction for the movie. The best actress in Julie and Julia is Meryl Streep because she added the third ingredient to being a good actor. She made her personality the same as Julia Child's personality. Compare her voice with Julia Child's actual voice and you can see no difference because she is the perfect actress for a part in this documentary and non fiction movie. The movie portrayed Julia Child's life extremely well because it showed how Julia Child influenced the world. The movie tells us that if a person can influence another person, then it can influence the entire world. It showed how She influenced Julie Powell into enjoying cooking. Julie Powell was able to accomplish a goal and write a book and had fans. The movie is not a summary of Julia Child's life, instead it is about what are achievements were and how she took a stand in society and what happened in her lifetime compared with Julie Powell's life.

Julia Child told us that society at that time was very complex about race and communism and that France was famous for its food and culture. Joesph McCarthy was mentioned in the movie and how he would interrogate people in the state department. He was ruthless by locking them up in a room with no windows for three days. Julie Powell told us about how society was after the terrorist attack on 9/11 because she was handling these person to person relationships.

For most people, cooking is a tedious task that people do all day because their family needs to eat. However Julia Child influenced Julie Powell about having fun with cooking and if you fail then keep on going forward. Julia Child's cookbook showed her how fun cooking can be because she was doing it as a hobby. Julie Powell tried it as a hobby and she became less stressed out to a happier mood. She changed her entire mindset about cooking and life. Have fun in cooking and you will enjoy it more. Some people say how do you have fun while cooking? I told them that you should improvise on some recipes. Julia Child improvised and Julie Powell improvised as well. Recipes can be changed accordingly to your personal eating habits. Some people like more oil and some people like less oil. Does it matter? No it does not because improvising is a way of being creative and thus having more fun.

I believe that through Julie Powell we learned the influence of Julia Child in the world today. Now cook for fun! Enjoy your weekend with a fun filled dish!

The Spy Next Door

Recently, I watched "The Spy Next Door" at AMC theaters. Since I watched the movie in the morning at AMC, the ticket price is only $6.00. Twenty years ago, that was the price of general admission in the afternoon. The movie starred the "old" Jackie Chan, George Lopez , and Billy Ray Cyrus. Jackie Chan is the dominant role in this action packed comedy. Jackie Chan is always in action packed comedies. My favorite action packed adventure comedy is Rush Hour 1 and 2 because they were able to fluently bring together three kinds of movie genre. The Spy Next Door makes a good third best action, adventure comedy because the story has been used before, Jackie Chan is getting old, there is no new use of technology, however it made me laugh spontaneously.

Not only is watching movies in the morning cheap, but it gives me a wake up call. I love a good laugh in the morning because it makes me happy throughout the day. The Spy Next Door was able to make me laugh spontaneously because the humor is not "squeezed" into the movie. Comedy movies like the Pink Panther 2 had nose pinching laughter because they forced us to laugh. The humor was tickling humor. Tickles are usually forced and the humor in The Spy Next Door allowed us a second to think and laugh. There was no forced laughter or bad comedy acting. I enjoyed Billy Ray Cyrus' funny southern accent and southern phrases funny because people do not normally talk like that. Jackie Chan's Chinese American accent was funny because he talked normally and tried to be fluent. Playing a part in a major movie is good for his resume, however this movie will hurt him. He can sing and act and be funny in a spontaneous way. Billy Ray Cyrus is a Television show actor , so he has no experience with motion pictures. He has played as a father in the 2009 movie, Hannah Montana The Movie, however he was horrible. I think he was better in this movie, than that one. George Lopez is a television host, so he's not good at acting in this movie either. He played a double agent and a traitor to the Central Intelligence Agency. He was not funny and acted mediocrity.

I am not saying that this movie is good because the story has been used by "The Pacifier". A secret agent goes to babysit a family of kids that he wants them to like him because he likes their mom. Then villains go after him and the kids that he babysits. The villains act too friendly in this movie because the movie is aimed at kids. In my opinion, this movie deserves a C for mediocre because Jackie Chan has played a part in many movies like this. He has acted in the Rush Hour trilogy, so he deserves a better movie to be in. Rent the movie, don't buy it.

Avatar

Around the world, people are enjoying James Cameron's latest masterpiece, Avatar. Avatar is a good movie because it has a high box office grossing. The movie has earned $1 Billion dollars worldwide and growing. It has the potential to overtake Cameron's last masterpiece, Titanic because Avatar was much more interesting. An Avatar is a remote body that is a mix of the Na'Vi DNA and human DNA. When I watched this movie at AMC theatres, I was intrigued by the natural environment , the vivid battle scenes, and the blooming romance.

Since the beginning of the 21st Century, environmentalist has warned us about global warming and taking care of our plant because it is becoming like a waste dump. It is always the human imagination to have a planet that is not polluted and it has all the environmental things that we enjoy. Avatar makes the audiences envious of Planet Pandora because it has no pollution, it has beautiful trees, mountains, skies, and animals. I loved the floating mountains because it looked so pure and beautiful that I became very envious of the characters that were in it. The floating mountains made me feel the nostalgia that I am still drawing imaginative creatures and planets. Americans go to the movies to enjoy a movie and take some time to relax. Avatar lets us feel the cool breeze of air and fresh unpolluted air. Avatar makes us feel like everybody is in heaven. In some ways, Pandora is a good representation of heaven because it has the environment that we enjoy. When I saw humans destroying the planet, I would have stood up against my own race because foreigners have no right to come and take the natives' land.

The battle scenes with the natives against the humans were extremely vivid because there was dramatic music, flashing scenes and slow motion shots. The battle scenes show that one human can change the way others view an entire race of humans. If they can teach one human to like the natives' planet, then the time to teach him or her was worth it. I really liked how Avatar had the confidence to take on the big bird. He had the courage and the assertion to do it. That scene portrayed him as a persevered and strong guy. My absolute favorite scene was when he jumped off the bird and went on to the big ship. He was killing the people with the motivation to protect their planet. He had the look on his face that said, " No body can stand in my way". The scene was extremely intense and I got extremely excited. All good movies need music that can get us excited.

As a student in filming, I know that music is an essential part in movie making because it builds a mood and it says more things than the speech dialogue. Music tells us the romantic parts and the dramatic parts. It helps us distinguish the two from each other. Music is the heart and soul of everything. Music is abstract and it helped Avatar to become more abstract than more realistic. When they were passing by the floating mountains, the music was very soft and happy because these mountains were the most beautiful things in the universe. The music was very joyful in the scene with Jake running for the first time in five years.
In general, Avatar is a fantastic movie that I would love to watch many , many times.

Princess and the Frog

In America, we all grew up by reading fairy tales and watching Disney movies. The new Walt Disney Movie, Princess and the Frog is a fairy tale story and a disney movie. Disney was able to combine music, dancing, and fairy tales into one feature film. Although movie critics have recently said that this movie is too repettitive, however I believe that this film is Disney's come back and a future nomination or winner of the Academy Awards. When you watch this movie, you will feel the nostalgia because this movie has excellent acting, music, dancing, story, and resolution. Walt Disney Pictures' new animated movie, The Princess and the Frog , has excellent resolution, world class music and dancing and acting.
For generations, people have enjoyed Disney movies because of their terrific music, choreography and acting. However as time went by, Disney started to have a slow decade in the beginining of the 21st century. I believe that the Princess and the Frog is the revival of the Walt Disney Pictures' mssion. This film incorporates Walt Disney's quote, "Keep Moving Foreward" by showing us that an young Africian American girl can grow up to be a princess. This movie seems like a fairy tale movie, however Disney was able to bring the fairy tale into a more modern setting in New Orleans. Princess Tianna loves to work for her goals and dreams because this belief was driven by her daddy. Her daddy tod her that a wish  can only give you 50% of what you want and the rest is your job. Her goal was to have her own restaurant, however a tiny frog changed her life. This tiny frog is Prince Naveen and he helped save her. However, Prince Naveen was  not my favorite character. I really like the old firefly and the alligator. They both had big dreams. Ironically, a little fly is small , but has big dreams to be with a star.
The songs sung by Anika were pure genius. Her voice is like the voice of an angel. When I listen to it, I know that Disney made a right choice in hiring her for the part. She can act, sing, and dnace. Her talents represent the true purpose of the Walt Disney Pictures' mission. Her songs reflect her own personality and Princess Tianna's personality.
When I watched this movie, I got a taste of New Orleans' culture, history, people, and traditions. I watched the Mardi Gras celebration like I was actually at the parade. Disney creators like to add a fourth element of research into the movies. In UP , the Pixar creators did research on the location because they feel that it be wrong to make up a place. Instead they want to entertain the viewers and teach them something about the location. We learned about New Orleans, Charles Dicken's writing styles, Japanese tsunamis, and the table top mountains of Peru this year. These movies may be funny and laughable, however I can look deeper into the movie and learn something. Walt Disney Pictures is teaching us that learning goes on forever.

Princess and the Frog

In America, we all grew up by watching Disney movies and reading fairy tales. The Princess and the Frog allows us to feel the nostalgia because we can be entertained and learn something. Walt Disney Pictures have been losing lots of money in this decade, however, this movie is the start of something new because it incorporates the Walter Disney's quote, has great music, has excellent acting and the best resolution.
Walt Disney Pictures have successfully created another Disney princess because of the excellent story, the great choreography and the very best music. I went to Multiplex Plaza at Town Center to watch Princess and the Frog because of the bargain price at $5.75 a ticket. I wanted to watch the movie because of the humor and the music and when I watched the movie, I was most intrigued by the excellent choreography and music. When I listened to the music, I feel very happy and had the sense that I was in the movie. I loved the little firefly that was in love with the North Star and the alligator. The alligator had the characteristic of dreaming big. He is similar to Tiana because of their will to work hard. The funniest part was when they met the firefly and when the firefly tried to rescue the frogs because it had a sense of humor that a tiny bug can do anything. Ironically, the little bug is known to be small and not do much, while the bug actually helped saved Tiana from the hunters of the swamp. I thought I was going to die laughing when the fly went into the person's nose and then the frogs talked and the hunters were scared away. The actress that was the voice for Tiana sang beautifully for the sad , but romantic parts. One thing that movie critics cannot argue is that Disney can get people who can sing and act.

I really enjoyed the song Down in New Orleans by Anika Noni Rose because her voice is so perfect that everybody should stop and listen to her. This song makes me feel very relaxed and her voice is sung perfectly in tune. Her song reflects the tale of Princess Tianna because Tianna is a hard working girl that likes to work for what she wants because her daddy told her that a star can only guarantee you 50% chance and the rest you need to work at it. The song also reflects the history and culture of New Orleans and the south. It shows that New Orleans is rich in money, cultures, traditions, songs, and ecosystem. It is a very friendly song that tells people to come to New Orleans.
This movie is Disney's masterpiece of the decade because it combines Disney's quote, "Just keep moving forward" because it shows that a girl from a lower class family can work hard and become a princess. It shows that Prince Naveen was able to learn a lot about life from Tiana. Princess Tiana should be the role model princess of the decade because she inspired her friend, Charlotte and her husband, Prince Naveen.
Walt Disney Pictures have shown that their strength is in 2D animation movies that incorporates music and dancing because they can make great things out of creative music and dancing. The people at Disney that have had worked on this film really made Walt Disney proud.

Ponyo

Today, August 29, 2009, I went to see the famous Ponyo. Ponyo is a little fish born in the sea. Her father is a human , but hates humans. He married the Sea goddess and obtained magical powers. He lives in the sea with his children. I watched this movie in AMC 24 Hamilton because it was the only known theatre in the area to show ponyo. Ponyo is a great movie with excellent reviews, but it doesn't have enough viewers. AMC showed Ponyo in High Definition and surround sound stereos. There was crashing waves of the Tsunami and I could hear the sea rumbling. The visual effects created by Hayo Mizaki were excellent. His drawings are a genius. He created his own style of drawing animation. (Hayo Miazaki draws almost all his animated movies by hand.)

Ponyo is a fish and daughter of the Sea goddesses and the magician. Ponyo has hundreds of Siblings. Her father has magical potions that could make her human. Sosuke found her in a jar. He opened the jar and got a cut. Ponyo licked it and it became better. Since Ponyo tasted blood, it can make her human. She has magical abilities inherited from her mother. Her mother rules the sea.

This is the Japanese version of Walt Disney's Little Mermaid. Ponyo's the fish and Sosuske saved her. Sosuske cared for Ponyo and fed her ham. When Ponyo was taken back to the sea, she said that she loved Sosuke and wanted to eat ham. Then she started to grow human legs and arms.

Her father went to the sea to find Ponyo's mother for help and advise. While he was gone. Ponyo secretly escaped and flooded her father's labratory. Fish started to get in and her father's secret vault was opened. Now Ponyo and her siblings has the magic potion of her mother. Ponyo grew real hands and feet. Her siblings turned to giant fish. Together, their magic flooded the entire city.

The downpour of rain flooded all the roads in 6ft of water. It covered the entire city except a resort at the top of the mountain.

Ponyo disobeyed his father and went to Sosuske with her siblings. Her siblings turned to giant fish and she was a human walking on the fish. The fishes caused a tsunami and overturned ships. In the end , there were a a whole pile of large cargo ships.

At the very end of the storm, Ponyo's mother saved the ships and the lives of the people. ( The name ponyo was given to the little goldfish by Sosuke. She had a different name at birth , but her mother and father liked the name Ponyo better.)
Ponyo slept with Sosuske during the storm.
Then she woke up and was calling Sosuke. Then their heads bumped.

It is a classic childhood love.

Up

When Carl Fredrickson was only 8 years old, he wanted to fly to South America. His wife had a clubhouse , that is now their home. His wife had the same dream of flying on the blimp, the Spirit of Adventure. His wife, Ellie also wanted to have an adventure to South America and put their clubhouse on the top of the Falls. Carl and Ellie has been best friends since they were eight. They had the best adventure intheir clubhouse.Ellie had adventure book. This book shows where she wants to go. Ellie wants to go to Venzuela. After they got married, Carl and Ellie fixed up their clubhouse and it became their new home. They had a picnic on the hill, Carl works at the zoo selling balloons, and Ellie works with the animals and gives group tours.
In this begining is a flashback, Disney purposely made the flashback in black and white to make it like the olden days. Where Model T cars were on the street. Carl and Ellie met in an old abandoned house when they were eight years old. Carl finished watching a movie and was walking home. He passed by the house and saw the sign said the Spirit of Adventure. He went in and met a new friend. Later on in life, he married Ellie. The redecorated the Clubhouse and it became their new home. They brought furniture and they're first date was going on a hill above the city to have a picnic. All her life, Ellie wanted to travel to the Falls in Venezuala and place their club house on the top of it.
When Carl and Ellie were senior citizens, Carl brought plane tickets to Venenzuela. He wanted to surprise ellie, but when they were at the hill. Ellie couldn't wlk any furthur and she went to the hospital. The next day Ellie passed away.
For the rest of Carl's life, he lived alone until he met Russell. Russell is a wilderness explorer and always wanted a adventure. Russell and Carl took off to Venezuela, because a construction boss wanted to tear down his house. Russell just hitchhiked along.
Carl tied 100,000,000 helium balloons to his house. He flew it all the way to Venezuela. On their way, Carl's house undergoed a huge thuderstorm and russell saved the house by steering it.
Russell is a eight year old boy that has a divourced mother and father. He lives with his mother and step father. His step father's name is Philius. His father never returned back. Russell is Asian, probabaly Chinese.
When they arrived in Venezuela, they met a golden retriever named Doug and Carl's childhood hero. It turned out Carl's childhood hero tried to kill him. His childhood hero and his talking dog army will go after Doug , Eussell, and Carl. They want the bird that Russell named Kevin. Kevin is an unique bird that is only in South America and has children to take care of.
As the story progresses, Carl learns that adventure can be just life in general. In Venezuela, Carl was reading Ellie's Adventure journal and saw her To do list. In it was her wedding, job, husband, and her first date. Ellie wrote for Carl, " Go have your own adventure."
Carl had his very own adventure in Venezuela with Doug and Russell. Carl became Doug's master and Russell's Role model. He saved Russell from a mad man that was his old hero.
In this 3D adventure, Carl learned a million life lessons that all viewers of this movie need to learn. Carl learned that be open minded and social. Ellie was really open minded about welcoming Carl and Carl learned to be open minded about Russell. At the Begining he thought of Russell as a nuisence and sent him away. In the end, they became best friends.
Carl also learned about being happy and enjoying life. He's no longer the old man sitting in his house watching TV, he's a changed man playing with an eight year old boy named Russell. He learned to Pursuit of Happiness.
He enjoyed a great adventure, not because he flew his house on 100,000,000 helium balloons. It was because of the life lessons he learned from Russell and his recently deceased wife, Ellie. The activies he enjoyed with Russell made him a happy, comforted and relaxed vacation.
Happiness and Comfort doesn't require money. The best vacation is the vacation with your friends and family. In Carl's case, his best vacation is the vacation that he learned that he no longer need to sit on his chair and watch TV. He is happy man instead of a lonely and sad widow.

Night At the Museum Battle of the Smithsonian

When you hear the phrase, history comes to life, what do you think of? In the movie, Night at the Museum Battle of the Smithsonian history comes to life. It literally comes to life. This film is filled with action , adventure and comedy. However the average score from the critics was a C+. This may not have appealed to critics , but I can assure you that it is worth watching.
Larry Daly retired from his post as the night guard at the New York Museum of natural history. Larry is the founder and CEO of Daly Devices. His product, the light up flashlight is a hit that was inspired by his job at the museum of natural history. When he visits the museum, the owner and the board is renovating the exhibits. His exhibits which includes Sacajawea, Attila, Huns, Jepadila, Romulus, Neathderals, and others. They will be moved to the Federal Archives in Washington D.C. One problem, the tablet won't be going. At the last minute , Dexter stole the tablet and brought it to DC. Now at midnight, all the exhibits and history on the National Mall will be brought to life. This includes a 3000 year old Pharaoh that wants to resurrect his afterlife army to take over the world. He has assembled, Ivan the Terrible, Napoleon, and a dangerous gang. Now Larry has the mission of going to Washington DC and save the world from be overran by a evil Pharaoh with his afterlife army.
Larry has to round up his crew and create his own army against the evil Pharaoh, Ivan the terrible, a gang, and Napoleon. On his side is Amelia Earhart , the thinker, and a octopus. He meets the Lincoln memorial statue that was brought to life by the tablet. For one night a historic battle would take place in the Smithsonian Institute. The funny part is that nobody will ever know it happened except for Larry.
The conclusion of the movie was a very reflective quote. "True happiness is doing the job that you love and the job that you enjoy." Larry used the quote given by Theodore Roosevelt and sold his company and went back to being the night guard at the museum of natural history. The original exhibits came back to the Museum of Natural History by Plane. The plane was flew by Amelia Earhart. In the end Larry knew that the job he loved doing was not inventing and owning a company, but working as a night guard at a museum with the tablet of Akman-Ra. This is also the message that it wants to give to the children watching the movie. When going to college and work , choose a class or job that you love doing.

Slumdog Millionaire

I was watching the Slumdog Millionaire DVD that I rented from Prime Tyme. Prime Tyme is a Video rental store in Plainsboro ,New Jersey. It is going out of business , so I ask my blog viewers to go to Prime Tyme and rent some DVDs to help their business. It closes in May 30, 2009. Help their business. The owner is very friendly and cares about his customers.Slumdog millionaire is a very dramatic film. It shows the reality of life. It shows how fortunate Americans are.

Slumdog millionaire is about a boy who's from the slums of Mumbai and got on the show, Who wants to be a millionaire. His name is Jamal. Jamal won 10,000,000 rupees and have 10,000,000 left to go to be the first millionaire from the slums of India. The host called the cops and arrested him for cheating. At the police office, he explains every little detail on how he knew the answers. All the answers goes back to when he was a little boy. He starts the story of his childhood with him being in a outhouse. His brother was screaming get out the helicopter is here. Then he placed a chair to lock him in. Then Jamal jumped into the outhouse toilet. He had always wanted to get the actors autograph. When the actor signed his paper, Jamal was covered in disgusting things.

He explained that living in the slums were hard because the police chased you and there would be raids and thefts in the slums. There were schools , but the raids were scary,. Jamal lost his mother in one of the slums.

The majority of the movie was a flashback. The movie was slowly progressing towards the present. He found his dream girl, Lathia. He won 1, 000,000 dollars or 20,000,000 rupees. He saw an excellent life ahead of him. His brother was killed by the gang , but his brother killed the gang leader.

The end of the movie was a Bollywood style ending. There was dancing, music , and Hindi songs.

The movie ended very uniquely. American movies do not end in a song or a dance. Our movies end in a very western style. Usually our movies end with the good guy defeating the bad guy or a person gets married.

This movie was creative and showed the reality of India. It showed that India is not very friendly and there are lots of poor people around. There were beatings and scams happening. As you watch this film, try to think about how Jamal and his brother was feeling.

Monsters Vs Aliens Part III

In Part III of my review of Monsters vs Aliens is the picture, story, plot line.
Monsters Vs Aliens is about a girl named Susan Murphy. She got hit by a meteor and received the radioactive powers. She started glowing and her boy friend said, "Susan your glowing. Your really glowing."

On the day of her marriage, she turned into a 44 foot giant. The government thought she was a monster so they brought her to a special facility. In this giant facility are BOB, Dr. Cockroach, The missing Link, and Insectosaurus. She saw that all these creatures were innocent and misunderstood. They have not left the facility in 50 years. Then one day, the government saw an Alien machine came to the United States.
The generals plan was to use the monsters help to defeat this gigantic machine with one eye. The government evacuated the cities and it was Susan who defeated the giant robot. Meanwhile they destroyed the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco. She saved the innocent civilians with the help of BOB.

After the hero work, Susan realized that the person she was going to marry only cared about him and his job. It was never a team, it was always about him. (Susan's ex fiance was Derek. he was the news station's meteorologist.)

Then the Alien with 6 eyes came and abducted Susan. He injured insectourous and stole Susan's powers. He came to Earth looking for that power to rule the Earth. He created a thousand clones of himself and a team of machines. He extracted Susan's powers and made her normal.

It was BOB, The missing Link and Dr. Cockroach's mission to rescue Susan and save the planet from the evil 6 eyed alien.

In the end, BOB, Link, and Dr. Cockroach rescued Susan. Susan thought it through and purposely gained her powers back because she felt that she could accomplish more.
She showed off her ex fiance and refused his hand in marriage.

This epic adventure, IMAX 3D film was about drama, action and adventure. A girl learned to speak her heart in what she wanted.

Monsters vs Aliens Part II

BOB or Bicarbonate Ostylezene Benzonate was one of Susan Murphy or Gigantorious's friends. She made friends with BOB when she was trapped in the Government facility. BOB has no brain and insisits on saying, "It turns out that you do not need one."
Bob is a computer generated creature that was made from a jello type of substance.
He has one eye and eats ham.Anything can go in and come out intact.

Monsters vs. Aliens is playing in Digital 3D and IMAX 3D.The Imax 3D uses two camera lenses to represent the left and right eyes. The two lenses are separated by an interocular distance of 64 mm (2.5"), the average distance between a human's eyes. By recording on two separate rolls of film for the left and right eyes, and then projecting them simultaneously, viewers can be tricked into seeing a 3D image on a 2D screen. The IMAX 3D camera is cumbersome, weighing over 113 kg/250lbs. This makes it difficult to film on-location documentaries.

There are two methods to creating the 3D illusion in the theatre. The first involves polarization. During projection, the left and right eye images are polarized perpendicular to one another as they are projected onto the IMAX screen. By wearing special eyeglasses with lenses polarized in their respective directions to match the projection, the left eye image can be viewed only by the left eye since the polarization of the left lens will cancel out that of the right eye projection, and the right eye image can be viewed only by the right eye since the polarization of the right lens will cancel out that of the left eye projection. Another method for 3D projection involves LCD shutter glasses. These glasses contain LCD panels which are synchronised to the projector which alternates rapidly at 96 frames per second between displaying the left and right images which are momentarily viewed by the appropriate eye by allowing that eye's panel to become transparent while the other remains opaque. While the panels within these active-shutter 3D glasses alternate at 96 frames per second, the actual film is displayed at 24 frames per second.

Monsters vs Aliens

Monsters vs Aliens is the new Hollywood hit movie. Children loves it, adults enjoyed it and critics finds it satisfactory. This new hit movie stares Reece Witherspoon as Ginormous or Susan Murphy. This new movie was about a girl named Susan Murphy. She suddenly got hit by a meteorite before her wedding. Her boy said, "Whoa, Susan your glowing.I mean you're really glowing."
Susan got caught by federal agents and placed in a facility where monsters are held. She joins Dr. Cockroach PHD, BOB, and the missing link. She also finds the insectivore's. Each one was caught because they were monster

Dr. Cockroach has a PHD degree. He was a mad scientist that got turned into a cockroach. The cockroach may be small, but he can turn junk into technology. He is a brain maniac.

The Missing Link is a creature that was captured because he had destroyed several towns and thought to be dangerous.

To Kill a Mockingbird

http://video.aol.com/video-detail/to-kill-a-mockingbird-1962/4067904238

Based upon the 1960, Harper Lee story, To Kill a Mockingbird has been a Oscar winning film, a Pulitzer winning novel , and a great black and white movie.
This film had adventure, drama, action, and humor. It is strongly connected to the Harper Lee novel, but they organized it to flow. This movie has scenes that flows or connects together. It's not a movie where the scenes are loosely connected and the story doesn't make sense , but a movie with a great plot line, a good story, and great acting.

This film starts out unusually, but as the movie progresses, we start to see that the objects shown in the beginning have strong ties to the story. I like the firm and assertive voice over along with the dramatic music.
The music is very memorable.
The acting of Scout was my absolute favorite because Scout acts like a boy , but her character and personality is still a girl. Scout is the main character and girl that introduces her town called Maycomb county. I love how Scout calls her father,"Atticus, Atticus."
She uses a very cute accent to say it. That is why I will never forget Scout. I may forget the movie.

Then there is Jem,he is a childish boy at the beginning , but as the years progressed, I can tell he has matured. he gone from a boy that played childish games with Charles Baker Harris or Dill to being more mature. I can see the character maturing as I watch the trial of Tom Robinson.
, but Atticus and Scout I will not forget.

Last, but not least is Atticus. Atticus played by Gregory Peck has really empathized the meaning of a lawyer. My favorite part about him was when he was defending Tom Robinson and was talking to the Jurors, he was very firm and serious. He gave a very important speech.

This movie has really enhanced my understanding of the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. It may be an old black and white film , but an award wining black and white film which I think is the best out of black and white films.

Bolt (2008)

This review is dedicated to Walt Disney and Walt Disney pictures hard working Men and women who worked on Bolt. Good Job and Thank you for a wonderful movie. Happy New Year Walt Disney.

It all started when Bolt was at the pet store when a girl named Penny came in. She adopted Bolt and 5 years later Bolt became a Television star. Bolt has been a television star along with Penny his whole life. He does not know it is televison because he has never been off the set. He has always stayed in a trailer on set. Penny loves him. Then one day when something wrong happened on the set, Bolt accidentally got shipped to New York. The accident happened when the Green eyed man captured Penny. Bolt thought it was all real and he escaped from his trailer and fell in a shipping box. Now he met an ally cat named Mittens and they met when the pigeons tricked Bolt to thinking that the cat worked for the Green eyed man. The pigeons wanted to get revenge on mittens. Now Bolt and Mittens are tied togeather to travel all the way across the country to Hollywood. In Ohio, They met Rhino. Rhino is just fan that watches a lot of the Bolt shows and is the ultimate fan. He is a hamstuter that lives with an old lady in an RV. In this cross road adventure Mittens and Bolt get friendlier to each other when Bolt realized that he is just a dog on a TV show. He started as a dog that thinks that everything in his show is real to a more realistic dog at the end. This reaches a happy ending with Penny taking care of both Mittens and Rhino. Bolt is no longer enemies with the cat, Mittens instead they are good friends. My favorite part was when they reached Las Vegas , Nevada because I went to Las Vegas recently and was so excited to see the famous Las Vegas strip again. I saw MGM Grand, Treasure Island, New York New York, Paris Las Vegas, Bally in animated form. That was just cool how I can see a place in a movie and I just recently been there. The coolest part of the movie is that I got to see Bolt in Disney Digital 3D.
The storyboard was excellent because it gave background imformation on how Penny got Bolt at the very begining then leads to several scenes Bolt episode shots that leads to why Bolt ended up in New York. It Ends with how Bolt returned back to Los Angleses Hollywood. It also shows the experiences that Bolt had with Mittens and Rhino. It shows that Bolt has gotten more realistic of his TV show character's super powers. He also have 2 new friends, so this adventure has been more than trying to find Penny. It was an experience learning about the outside world. The world that was different from the glamor of a Hollywood set.
This movie has great shots with lots of shot variety and great visuals. The movie showed the great places around the 48 states. My favorite was Las Vegas because I just visited lasvegas during Thanksgiving and I got to see the foundain show of Bellagio again. They made every landmark especially Las Vegas with high pixels. This movie is pure hard work, intellegence, creativity, and high goals. A proverb once said, "It is not that you are afraid of setting your goals to high , but you set it too low that you can't reach it"
I was discussing this movie and believed that this movie can reach an Oscar. It might be Best sound effects, Best Visual effects, Best Animated film , Best Supporting Actress, or Best actor.
The best part about this movie is that it has a solid movie that does not loose focus. It is the best Disney animated movie of the year. Good Job Disney. You reached exceed Expectations and you will get an Oscar. That is the reward for your Success and hard working employees.Thank you Disney.
Walt Disney you have set a legacy, thank you. Not a single filmmakers have made so many good animated movies as your company did. From Alice in Wonderland to Bolt you have built a foundation for future filmmakers of Walt Disney Studios. Thank You and happy new year.
